Stumpjumper uses Specialized's S-Sizing ladder, S1 to S6, which is a different system from the alpha sizes on Rockhopper. The bands are wide on purpose and they overlap: a 173 cm rider sits inside S2, S3 and S4 at once.
Stumpjumper 15 Comp Alloy size finder
Height gives you one size, or two when the published height ranges overlap. Stack, reach, and standover settle the overlap.
Enter your height and the Stumpjumper 15 Comp Alloy size that covers it is marked in the tables below.
How to measureHeight gives the starting size. Standover and reach confirm it.
Height ranges
Height ranges for every Stumpjumper 15 Comp Alloy size, 146 to 207 cm overall. S1: 150 to 160 cm. S2: 157 to 173 cm. S3: 165 to 180 cm. S4: 173 to 188 cm. S5: 178 to 193 cm. S6: 188 to 203 cm.
Size chart
Rider height is Specialized's published Stumpjumper S-Sizing chart. Specialized publishes no rider inseam for this family, so the table shows height only.
S1
4'11"–5'3"
150–160 cm
Smallest S-Size and the lowest standover at 738 mm.
S2
5'2"–5'8"
157–173 cm
Shortest reach step in the ladder at 25 mm; Specialized sizes the T-shirt equivalent as S.
S3
5'5"–5'11"
165–180 cm
Most riders start here. Stack and reach above are for this size.
S4
5'8"–6'2"
173–188 cm
Same standover as S3, so stepping up here does not raise the frame you have to clear.
S5
5'10"–6'4"
178–193 cm
Same standover as S3 and S4; only the cockpit changes.
S6
6'2"–6'8"
188–203 cm
Tallest S-Size, with the highest standover at 751 mm.

Sizing notes
Riders with the same height can need different sizes because inseam, torso length, flexibility, and preferred handling differ.
3 checks
S-Sizing is a choice, not a ladder. 173 cm sits inside S2, S3 and S4 at once, and Specialized's own S-Sizing page says the smaller size is the more nimble one while the larger is the more stable one.
Standover barely moves across the range: 738 mm at S1, then 751, 745, 745, 745 and 751 mm. Reach and stack decide the size, not clearance.
Reach grows 130 mm from S1 to S6 while stack grows 59 mm, so stepping up lengthens the cockpit more than twice as fast as it raises the front end.

Questions
Short answers for Specialized Stumpjumper 15 Comp Alloy sizing.
Start with the Specialized S-Sizing band: S1 for 150–160 cm, S2 for 157–173 cm, S3 for 165–180 cm, S4 for 173–188 cm, S5 for 178–193 cm, and S6 for 188–203 cm. Where two bands cover you, the smaller S-Size is the more nimble one and the larger is the more stable one.
S-Sizing replaces frame letters with S1 to S6 and publishes wide, overlapping height bands. A rider is often covered by more than one S-Size, and Specialized's own guidance is to pick the smaller size for agility and the larger for stability.
173 cm sits inside S2, S3 and S4 at once, the widest overlap in the ladder. S3 is the middle option with 627 mm of stack and 450 mm of reach; S2 is 25 mm shorter in reach and S4 is 25 mm longer.
Specialized prints M beside S3 on the same chart, so S3 is the medium of the S-Sizing ladder. It carries 627 mm of stack, 450 mm of reach, and 745 mm of standover.
Stumpjumper and Stumpjumper EVO share one S-Sizing chart, so the S1 to S6 bands carry across. The frames are different, so confirm stack, reach, and standover on the exact model before buying.
