Specialized sizing system

Specialized mixes traditional cm labels with Rider-First S-Sizing.

Specialized uses a mix of traditional cm labels (49, 52, 54, 56, 58, 61) and S-Sizing labels (S, M, L, XL) depending on model and discipline.

For road bikes like Tarmac and Roubaix, Specialized uses traditional cm sizing. For mountain bikes like Stumpjumper, they use S-Sizing.

Specialized cm labels roughly correspond to effective top-tube length, but modern models use sloping geometry — match by height range, not cm label.

S-Sizing uses Rider-First Engineering: each frame size has unique tube dimensions and carbon layup, not just scaled geometry.

Specialized size chart by bike type

Road bikes use traditional cm labels. Mountain bikes use S-Sizing. For gravel models like Diverge, check the model-specific page.

Between Specialized sizes

Traditional cm has clear gaps — use the height chart, then check reach.

Pick the smaller Specialized size

When you want a lower, racier position on Tarmac or Allez Sprint. Smaller size = shorter reach and lower stack.

Pick the larger Specialized size

When you want a more upright endurance position on Roubaix or Diverge. Confirm standover clearance.

S-Sizing picks for you

Specialized's S-Sizing groups body measurements into size bands. Trust the size finder result — Rider-First Engineering means the frame is optimized for that specific size.

Specialized bike FAQ

Short answers for choosing a Specialized frame before purchase.

What size Specialized bike should I get?

Start with Specialized's height range: 49cm fits 5'0"–5'3", 52cm fits 5'3"–5'6", 54cm fits 5'6"–5'9", 56cm fits 5'9"–6'1", 58cm fits 6'1"–6'3", 61cm fits 6'3"–6'6". For S-Sizing models, use the Specialized size finder on the product page.

How does Specialized S-Sizing work?

S-Sizing is Specialized's mountain bike sizing system using S–XL labels instead of cm. Each size is engineered with Rider-First technology — the geometry, carbon layup, and tube dimensions are customized per size rather than simply scaled.

Is Specialized sizing smaller than Trek?

Specialized 52cm roughly corresponds to Trek 52cm, and Specialized 54cm to Trek 54cm. Both brands use similar height ranges for road bikes, but mountain bike sizing differs due to Specialized's S-Sizing system.

What size Specialized Diverge should I get?

Diverge uses Specialized's road cm sizing. Match your height to the chart: 5'6"–5'9" → 54cm, 5'9"–6'1" → 56cm. The Diverge has a slightly more upright position than the Tarmac, so between-sizes decisions lean toward the larger size for gravel riding.
